With the BEAMON Microsoft Word Add-in, you can use BEAMON Assist directly in Microsoft Word. Ask Assist to edit the open document, for example to add or rework a clause, or use it as a research companion while you draft.
In Word, Assist can also draw on documents you've uploaded to BEAMON, such as playbooks, search public sources like court databases, and use licensed content from publishers like Otto Schmidt.
Install the Add-in
- Open Microsoft Word.
- On the Home tab, click Add-ins. In older Word versions, go to Insert → Get Add-ins.
- Search for BEAMON.
- Click Add.
Can't find the add-in or install it? In many organisations, add-ins are managed centrally by IT. In that case, please ask your IT team to deploy the BEAMON add-in for you.
Use BEAMON in Word
- On the Home tab in Word, click the B icon.
- The BEAMON panel opens on the right-hand side of your document.
- Log in with your BEAMON account.
You can then use Assist to:
- Ask questions or request edits to the open document, for example to add a clause or adjust the wording.
- Draft content using Assist's answers as a starting point.
- Reference your uploaded documents, such as playbooks or templates.
- Turn on web search or select a jurisdiction to include public legal sources such as case law databases.
- Use content from integrated publishers such as Otto Schmidt.
Some of these features depend on what's included in your organisation's plan.
Permissions and Privacy
The BEAMON add-in works like a small website embedded in Word. It:
- only has read and write access to the document that is currently open
- has no access to your OneDrive, SharePoint or other files
- sends data securely to BEAMON over an encrypted connection
Otherwise, the same privacy standards apply as for BEAMON in your browser. BEAMON is Publisher Attested under Microsoft's app certification programme.
