In Extract, a project bundles the documents you want to review together with the questions you ask about them. The results appear in a table, with one row per contract or per folder.
This article is about Extract projects. Projects in Assist work differently, see Create and Use Projects in Assist.
Create a project
- In the sidebar, click Extract → All Projects.
- Click New Project.
- Enter a Project Title and, optionally, a Project Description.
- Choose the settings for Quality mode, Review unit and Text recognition (see below).
- Click Create.
You're then taken to the project's documents, where you can upload files or create folders.
Quality mode
Defines how thoroughly the AI works on each document. You can change this later in the project settings.
- Standard: Faster and the right choice in most cases. Works best for clean DOCX files and digital PDFs, and for questions whose answer can be found in a specific clause. No limit on file size or number of pages.
- High quality: Slower, but more reliable for difficult documents. Also recognises handwriting, marginal notes, stamps, signature blocks and complex tables, and uses reasoning models for questions that involve several steps or cross-references. Limited to 50 MB per review unit.
Review unit
Defines what counts as one item to review, and therefore what becomes one row in your table.
- One row per file: Each file is reviewed as a separate contract. Amendments to a contract are read together with it, in order of signature date, so later changes take precedence over the original text. Choose this for classic contract review.
- One row per folder: Each first-level subfolder becomes one row, and all documents in it are searched together. Choose this for due diligence, where a folder collects everything about one company, asset or matter.
The review unit can't be changed after the project has been created.
Text recognition
Defines how the text is extracted from each document before the AI reads it.
- Automatic: Faster and the right choice in most cases. Uses the text the document already contains and only runs OCR on scans or photographed pages. Best for digital PDFs and files exported from Word.
- Enforce OCR: Slower. Every document is recognised from the page image, even if it already contains text. Choose this for faulty exports, stamps or notes over the text, or PDFs whose text layer doesn't match the page.
Duplicate a project
- On the All Projects page, click the three-dot icon next to the project.
- Select Duplicate.
- Enter a new title and description and click Duplicate.
You're then taken straight to the table view of the new project.
The copy includes all questions and table settings, but not the uploaded documents.
Delete a project
- On the All Projects page, click the three-dot icon next to the project.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm in the dialog.
Deleting a project is permanent and can't be undone.
